'tis still the Season?

While people have been complaining that the push for the Holidays starts way too soon- I’ve been working away on Holiday related advertising since the end of the summer. In fact, by the time Halloween arrived, I was mentally already done with Christmas!

In September, Dickey’s BBQ came in to record a series of radio spots with Gilbert Gottfried. The spots- which want you to pre-order your Holilday barbecue dinners from Dickey’s, even poked fun at the idea of starting so early “Already?? What are you NUTS??” shouts Gilbert in response to company founder Roland Dickey’s reminder to order now for the Holidays. And to perhaps set a record- we knocked out spots for Easter as well. Why should Christmas get all the attention so early?

Shortly after that, I started recording for a new star studded Holiday special that as it turns out won’t be ready for another year so I can’t say a dang thing about it! But it’s great. Stay tuned!

To further keep the pre-Holiday sprit alive here at Nutmeg, 72 and Sunny producer Chris Kyriakos stopped in to record Neil Patrick Harris for a fun project! It’s An online story book for Target called “The Holiday Odyssey: Three Kids, A Dog, and an Epic Quest to Light a Ridiculously Giant Tree”. While it’s sponsored by Target and features their mascot- it’s a cute piece of advertising that I didn’t hesitate sharing with my seven year old! She read along as Mr. Harris delivered the story wonderfully. What I liked about working on it was being able to use the skills I use when working on animation projects for Disney and Nickelodeon, but at the pace and expectations of the advertising world.

And as if all that holiday cheer wasn’t enough- Grey Advertising and their client Best Buy has been keeping me off the streets with their “Win The Holidays” campaign- a series of fun spots all set to the closing theme music from the classic movie ‘Rocky’! The spots have been produced by Romeo Joven and voiced by Tim Champeaux. They feature a variety of gift givers being helped by Best Buy Blue Shirt employees to ‘Win the Holidays’. This was a bi-coastal effort with our friends at Lime Studios in California and cut by bicoastal Arcade Edit. Videos below mixed in lush 5.1 surround sound. Presented here via YouTube for your crappy laptop speakers. Enjoy!

It's still not even Thanksgiving, and I feel like the Holidays have already happened!

Thankfully, the internet is madness over Starbucks' red coffee cups is going strong and fueling the seasonal rage that erupts in one giant, caffeinated shopping spree on Black Friday. Enjoy everybody!
